Hi, I'm Meg, and I'm a pink lip product addict. I'm not sure if any of my monthly favourites post haven't included a lipstick in the pink family. See for yourself - March, April, May. A theme that I'm not planning on straying from anytime soon, this month's best pinks came courtesy of Revlon ColourBust lip butter in 'Sorbet' (£7.99) and L'Oréal L'Extraordinaire liquid lipstick in 'Rose Symphony' (£8.99). I'll probably do separate reviews on these as I love 'em, but both are equally beautiful - the Revlon is the prettiest hot pink with a tiny dose of pink shimmer that applies either sheerly or boldly like a dream, and the L'Oréal has one of the best formulas I've tried in such a long time - pigmented, glossy and slightly balmy. Both smell absolutely heavenly also, which gets another big tick in my book.
Unlike pink lip products, eyeshadow is a product that I can take or leave. It doesn't feature in my daily makeup, but I went through a big MAC phase in my mid-teens and decided that I needed all of their eyeshadows. As a result, I have too many unloved shadows in my collection and feel that, four years on, I'm getting my money's worth. 'Tempting' (£12.50) was a shade I lusted after thanks to Laura aka Buy Now Blog Later (lollipop26, back in the day) and I can see why she loves it so much. A "sinfully rich coco" with silver flecks, I've been using this smudged along my lower lashline to add a little summin' summin' to an otherwise neutral look and making that £12.50 spent aged sixteen count.
For Christmas 2013, I received an Origins gift set that included a 50ml sample of their Make A Difference Plus+ rejuvenating treatment lotion and fell head over heels. I know that Kate from Ghost Parties and I have similar skin types and as she's a fan of this, I was excited to whip out my cotton pads and hopefully make a difference to my face. Tee hee. After six months of use I still haven't finished the teeny bottle, which will make the inevitable parting of cash for a 150ml bottle less painful. From prepping it ready for serum, soothing breakouts and refreshing after a sleepless night, this makes my skin so much happier and that isn't an easy task to achieve. I commend you, Origins.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum gel foundation (£10.99) was a grower, not a shower. With countless mentions across beauty blogs and a glowing recommendation from my queen Essie Button, I dropped it into my basket in Boots with a keenness to apply and marvel at my less-than-perfect skin looking all perfected and glowy. Much to my disappointment, that didn't happen and after a couple of hours wear, it had oxidised on my skin; think a mid-January pale complexion that's erring on the shade of 'satsuma' and some unsightly shine. However, fast forward six months to a face that has seen some sunshine and we have a match! It still needs a dusting of powder to keep shine at bay, but other than that - I'm happy.
Personally, I think Real Techniques is the ultimate affordable range of makeup brushes and as I only have good things to say about their products - doesn't everyone? - I chose to include their Duo-Fibre face brush (£23.99 - part of collection) this month. I saw Nic use it on the lovely Niomi aka Lady Smart in this video and thought I'd dig mine out and give it a whirl. And what a triumphant whirl it was! For me this brush applies bronzer like nothing else as because I'm fair, I have to use an extremely light hand and even then, things can get a little too bronzy fairly quickly - but no more. It's a gamechanger, I tell you.

It's a really pretty colour - beware though, they have a tendency to melt and you have to be careful not to throw them in your bag on hot days! x
DeleteThe bonjouris healthy glow sounds right up my street- and the serum is the one I think i'll get my hands on. It sounds so perfect for summer! x

I really like it, I wasn't so keen at first but I think that was down to having the wrong shade. It's so light on the skin and once you've buffed it in, it's completely undetectable! Affordable, too :) x
DeleteI absolutely love those Revlon lipsticks...I'm not a huge lipstick person altogether, but these are definitely my fave. Dying to try that L'Oreal. That pink is gorgeous!

Same! The L'Oreal are gorgeous, such a lovely formula and the shade range looks lovely too. I'd like to try one of the reds next! Thanks for your comment :) x
DeleteThat Mac eye shadow is so pretty! I just bought the canon 700d and its absolutely amazing but it was quite pricey
ReplyDeleteThe Lipstick, The Girl and Her Wardrobe
It's beautiful, even though it's sat unused for years I'm really glad I have it! Thanks so much for the recommendation, I've heard great things about that one and will look into it :) x
DeleteI am LOVING the Revlon Lip Butter colour. I have 3 of the Revlon lip butters and I see this colour in my near future. ;)

I hope you'll like it - I see many more lip butters in my future also, Mystic Meg over here! x
DeleteRevlon lipsticks, along with MAC's, are also my all time favourite!! I love pink lips too!! :D x
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Thanks for your comment, Sunaina :) x
DeleteHey Meg, I love your blog and have followed you on bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you used your phone for these photos! They are gorgeous. Shows what you can do with the technology you have :)
I have been loving the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters this month as well! They are so hydrating and give great colour payoff.

Hi Claudine, thank you so much - I'm over the moon that you like my blog and am so appreciative of the positive feedback. I agree, it's an iPhone 4 also and has been dropped in the bath so I'm surprised they come out relatively okay, I definitely need to invest in a proper camera soon though. Glad you like them too, I think they're brilliant products and so affordable, also! Thanks again for your comment x
DeleteI should try Real Technique brush. Thanks for sharing.

They're fantastic quality and so affordable! I do find that I need to repurchase my most-used ones (like the buffing brush, for example) every year, but that's probably because I use it SO much and it gets a little tired x
DeleteThe Revlon lip butter looks so gorgeous! I have two already and love the formula, might go a swatch this one, I'm tempted! Real Techniques are the best, I couldn't live without mine!! Xx
ReplyDeleteA Blonde Moment
It's so pretty, I recommend it if you like hot pinks :) agreed! x
DeleteGorgeous colours! I need to wear more pink! xx

Thanks, Nicole :) I think I have enough now and I need to branch out into some other colours - I'm obsessed with Kylie Jenner's makeup at the moment so it'll probably be some nudes! x
DeleteLove your June favorites, especially the foundation. It sounds amazing I was recently looking for one. I haven to try it out.

Aren't they just?! I'm forever in love with pink, too - I don't think I'll ever stop buying pink lipsticks :) glad you enjoyed it, thank you for your comment! x

DeleteI have been loving the Kiehl's BB cream and my Guerlain Terracotta bronzer :)
ReplyDelete//Michelle from Glassow
Ooh I haven't tried either of those but I've always wanted one of the Guerlain bronzers - they're so iconic, I think I'll have to own one at some point in my life! Glad to hear that you like them, thanks for the recommendation and your comment :) x
DeleteI LOVE Revlon Lip Butters and cannot believe my beloved one in the shade 'sweet tart' has literally come to a very near end! But that's okay, it means I can shop more! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Niomi's blog and she is gorgeous! Your favourites have been very interesting to read! <3

Sweet Tart is my absolute favourite also! Mine is nearing the end too, it melted in my bag and now it's a bit of a mess, I have to apply it with a lip brush but I love the colour so much that I'm willing to make do with the fiddly application! Niomi is beautiful isn't she, I love her blog also :) thanks for your lovely comment, hope you're having a nice weekend so far! x
DeleteAs a fellow pink lip addict I give you a major salute! <3
ReplyDeleteI love the Revlon lip butter range; so lovely and moisturising but at the same time totally wearable and giving such a great dash of colour. I purchased a L'Oreal liquid lipstick whilst in the US and can't wait to give it a try, looks so gorgeous and again for us addicts gives such a great shot of pink I bet! ;-)

*salutes* I love them too, they're so affordable and I can see myself purchasing more in the future. It really does - Rose Symphony is THE prettiest colour, I love it! x
DeleteYes to basically everything Real Techniques makes. I've been wanting to try their duo fiber collection for a while now. Still waiting for one of those buy one get one 50% off sales at Ulta.
ReplyDeletegingercatqueen.blogspot.com
100% agree - I love Sam & Nic too, so that helps also :) the duo fibre collection is great, I find the eye brush is a little too stiff to use for concealer which is what I wanted it for, but it's great for crease work and the other two face brushes are gorgeous. Hope the sale comes around soon and you can get your hands on a set! Thanks for your comment :) x
DeleteGreat round up - I'm adding that real techniques collection to my list!
ReplyDeleteAnd who doesn't love a pink lip? ;)
