FOTN: Birthday Celebrations

It was my wonderful Mum's birthday last week - love you, Mumma! - and although I sadly couldn't spend the day with her as I wasn't well enough to leave the house, I rested as much as possible and thankfully was able to join her and my family for a celebratory meal that night. With low energy levels to contend with I skipped the time (and spoon) consuming eyeshadow, liner and contour and opted for a minimal base with a pink lip.

I let my hair dry naturally - ain't nobody got spoons for hairdryers - and parted it in the middle, spritzing a little Aussie Dual Personality Texturising & Conditioning gel spray into the roots and giving it a quick tousle. Fuss-free and energy saving, Bob's your uncle.

Which products or makeup look do you choose when you're low on time or energy?

    1. Thanks so much, Kasia! Usually my skin is all over the place, it must've been a rare good skin day :) you have the most flawless skin also, it's beautiful. I love them too, my favourite is Celestial I think, although I do love Nova. Thank you, we had a lovely time! Hope this week is great for you x

  2. Oh my goodness, this is the most gorgeous pic ever. I have a tendency to go for simple, a little Fresh lip balm on my lips and I'll call it a day lol. Hope you're mom had the best birthday :) ps just read all the ins and outs of your blog and I think you are just the most incredible person. I look forward to following you and your story!! 1. Thank you, that's so kind! I'm the same if I'm just popping out but seeing as it was a special occasion I thought I'd sit in bed and make a little bit of effort :) she really enjoyed herself thanks, we all did! You're too sweet, I really appreciate you taking the time to read and thanks so much for following me, also. Now about to head over to your blog and have a browse x

  3. I wish I could just leave my hair to dry haha, mine is so frizzy and wavy and because it's fairly short that just doesn't work out for me! Love that Bourjois foundation :)

    1. That must be a pain when you're in a big hurry - I'm lucky that mine is naturally straight, it's quite fine and pretty pancake flat but I can't complain! I was just browsing your blog and I really love it, you had me with the phonetics ;) it's a great affordable option, when I first tried it I wasn't keen as it oxidised slightly but now that it's summer I'm a big fan! x

    1. Thank you! It's one of my favourite pinks, I love the Apocalips range :) it's quite bright but I dab it in and it's a little more muted and toned down x

  5. I really want that Bourjois foundation! I used to have their Bio Detox Organic foundation and I am so upset they don't stock it anymore - it was definitely a winner!

    1. It's a great one that won't break the bank, I first heard about it from Essie Button and am glad I picked it up. It's a perfect colour match for me now that it's summer and I find if you work it in with a buffing brush then it looks completely undetectable on the skin, so natural! Ah, I remember that one too, such a shame x

    1. Makeup is magical, isn't it! My illness is invisible, but I definitely had some panda eyes going on and looked a little worse for wear. Extremely lucky that I can 'cover up' my illness and look healthy if I want to :) no problem, you're so welcome! Thank you Plearn, that's really kind of you x

  8. Such a great make-up look. I tend to go for more minimal make-up normally but if I am low on time, I always skip the eyeliner! It's such a pain in the ass to get both eyes to match for me. Love the lip colour on you as well :) xo

    1. Thanks, beautiful! I never wear eyeliner either, it doesn't suit me plus I can never get my wings even either - the struggle is real. Sometimes I use a dark eyeshadow on an angled brush as it's so much easier, but most of the time I just sweep on a light eyeshadow and get started with mascara! Thank you :) x

Thank you, you're so kind :) it's one of my favourite shades too! x

    1. Thanks so much, Ruby <3 I do too, I've always been a pink gal! I usually opt for something less bright, but when I don't have 'much going on' with the rest of my makeup it's nice to go for something bolder. It makes it look like you've put more effort in than you actually have too, bonus! I agree :) x

A little goes such a long way, super pretty also! x

    1. Thank you, I prefer natural makeup too sometimes. I'd say so as although you'd need a concealer for blemishes, it covers pretty well and looks so undetectable on the skin if you buff it in well. At first I didn't like it as it oxidised on me, but now that it's summer I can get away with being a little darker. Hope you like it if you try it out, I think it's a good affordable option :) x
